Cookies
This site uses a small number of cookies, all of them needed to make it work. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run third-party analytics, and nothing here follows you to other websites.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. When you come back, the browser hands it to the site again, which is how a site can remember something between one page and the next.
Browsers also offer websites a private notepad called local storage. It works the same way from your point of view — it stays on your device — but unlike a cookie it is never sent to us automatically. This site uses both, and the list below says which is which.
Neither can read files on your device or see anything you do in other applications.
What this site stores
Your shopping cart, in local storage. What you have added stays in your own browser so it survives moving between pages and coming back later. It is not sent to us until you place an order.
Your saved items, in local storage, so the wishlist is still there on your next visit. This one never leaves your browser at all.
Your sign-in session, as a cookie, if you have an account. This is what keeps you signed in while you look at your orders, and it is removed when you sign out.
Security tokens on forms, which confirm that a quote request or an order came from a person using this site rather than an automated script.
What this site does not store
No advertising or re-targeting cookies. Nothing on this site builds a profile of you for advertising, here or anywhere else.
No third-party analytics. We do not embed the usual tracking scripts, so no analytics company receives a record of your visit.
No payment card details. When you pay online you are handed to a licensed payment provider, and the card number is entered on their systems, never ours.
Turning them off
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies and site data, usually under Settings, then Privacy. Doing it for this site is your right, but the cart, the wishlist and sign-in all depend on it: with site data blocked you can read every page, and you can still telephone an order through, but the basket will empty itself between pages.
If you would rather not use the website at all, call 0117 149 149 and the office will take the details over the phone.
